What is white label web design?
I get asked all of the time why I decided to focus solely on white-label web design, and the answer is simple. I wanted to create long-term partnerships where I can spend most of my time designing.
So, what is white label design?
White label design is when a designer or studio hires a contract designer to do the design tasks they don’t want to. A lot of times, this can be website design or development, or some in-house graphics and social media posts. It allows me to work behind the scenes, because usually I am not able to attach my name to the projects. The studio keeps all the rights to everything I design for them.
What are the benefits?
1. You get your time and mental space back.
Some creative studios are only single designers, so it is easy for them to get overwhelmed with projects quickly. Working with a white-label web designer, it frees up a lot of time to focus on the growth of the studio and scaling.
2. You are getting a long-term partner.
This is one of my favorite benefits of working with other studios. I am invested in the growth and success of your business. Creating intentional partnerships where I can help the studio grow and find balance with a designer is key to my fulfillment, and something I hope the people I work with prioritize to.
3. Seamless integration.
I am able to be super flexible in onboarding with studios because I have worked in pretty much every project management platform. This makes it really easy for me to jump in wherever I am needed with an agency. If they would prefer I handle project management, then Trello is my best friend. I get a lot of feedback about how simple and easy it is for my clients to use.
4. Style match.
Usually, I am working behind the scenes, which I love. I have worked with 20+ studios that are women-led and primarily work with service providers. Each studio has a varying style, and it’s truly so fun not to have to be stuck designing in one style!
5. No sorting job applications.
I am in quite a few Facebook groups, and have had success finding designers who need help there. My goal is to reach out to them when they need me, but haven’t posted a job application yet. I know that spam and underqualification are rampant these days, and looking for a designer can take a lot more time than it should. If you are ready to work with someone who can help you find balance, fill out my contact form.
Can I use my projects in my portfolio or on social media?
That a lot of time differs from studio to studio. I have had some who don’t want me to post at all, and others who are happy to have their name in my portfolio. This is something I will sometimes ask in the initial call, but I’m always prepared to hear no. I’m okay with it, because I’m happy working behind the scenes, and a lot of times I can still ask for a testimonial and I will use that to build credibility.
As someone who prioritizes intentional connection in my business, white-label design has been fantastic for that. I am so grateful for the amazing people I get to work with every day. If you would like to be one of them, contact me here
